DON'T BE AFRAID OF SUDDEN FEAR

Updated: Jul 28

Proverbs 3:25 says these timeless words.

How often are we jolted from our peace when something suddenly and unexpectedly happens?

  • Someone cuts in front of you on the road almost causing a car accident or worse the accident happens.

  • There is a sudden serious illness.

  • The money in your bank account is lower than you expect.

  • Someone is rude or angry with you.

I have had all of these experiences.

You may think of other times when you had a sudden adrenalin rush that was not pleasant. How you react is important to what happens next.

The Bible says do not panic because God is in control. I confess that turning it over to God is often not my first response. If it was, things would probably go better sooner. So I write this to encourage you, readers. You may not have a close relationship with the Father but He is always watching. He guards and directs our paths. This is explained in Proverbs 2:8. The next time you are shocked by a sudden fear of something or someone, you can cry out to God in the Name of Jesus. Rest assured He will answer and restore peace.

Dear Readers, I published the above, but now God has impressed on my heart that I need to tell more of the story, more of the blessings and miracles in the midst of the scary things.

My blog started this morning when I looked at our bank account and discovered our social security deposit had not arrived as scheduled. I wrote to them 2 weeks ago to stop the part B because we had new insurance and did not need to pay for that. Now I need to find out why they stopped the whole thing. I immediately felt fear. Fear is an attack from the basement gang. (they do not need any other name. I am sure you get the picture). I began to pray and acknowledge who holds my future and my funds in His Hands.

That's not the only recent time I felt fearful and somewhat overwhelmed. As some of you may know, my husband David was fine until he began to experience foot pain. He thought it was from stepping on a rock. When it got worse, the doctors finally understood that there was a lack of blood flow to his foot. This sometimes happens to diabetics and it can be life threatning. Eventully he went into the hospital with the prospect of having his right foot amputated to save his life. He was in there 12 days. I was home alone and sometimes fearful of the outcome. But we prayed and the doctors decided to try vascular surgery first. They put stints in his leg. By the time this happened necrosis had already begun. That is when wounds turn black and tissue is dead. David's right foot was dying. He had one black place on his big toe, the next toe was all black and there was a large black spot on the top of his foot. These do not heal. I prayed and asked others to pray. God raised Lazarus and Jesus. He could bring back David's foot. On Wedneday, we had a follow up appointment with the surgeon. She cut off 2 black spots and blood started flowing from his foot. A bandage was drenched. This was amazing and positive. His foot was very much alive. We still hope and pray for the 2nd toe.

We were required to start a business in order to stay in Hungary. I decided to teach English as a second language. This work entitled us to insurance so his surgery was covered. Which is why I was stopping our USA insurance as mentioned earlier.

When we first arrived and I met our translator/personal assistant she said it would be a miracle if we were allowed to stay. I said I believed in miracles. We are still here and she witnessed the healing of David's foot as she translated what the doctor said. Keep praying. Never give up. Don't be afraid!

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10

Final update: just before I was about to call the Social Security I decided to look at the bank account one last time and there was the money. I guess the bank was late posting. Whew!
