My Heros tell the truth

When I was a child I read a story called The Emperor's New Clothes by Hans Christian Anderson. This story was translated into many languages and the title became an idomatic expression meaning widely accepted fallicies. If you haven't read the book, I won't spoil it for you. It is a good read and not just for the young ones. As a child that story encouraged me to tell the truth.
I have a Biblical faith-based world view and I have had it since I was a teenager. I decided to follow Jesus and was baptised September 11, 1966. I know, this is the 9-11 date everyone remembers for another reason. To me it is a date of blessings and heroes. I shared this with my daughter because it is also her birthday and she is a hero of mine because she told the truth when it was not easy! Happy Birthday! You're still my hero!
At times a bad thing happens or a false idea gets presented and made pallitable by some slick marketers. Will you go along with the narrative that is promoted? Those of us who don't agree go through some mental dialogs and must decide how to respond and what the consequences might be. The mental process could look like this:
"I will look foolish if I cannot agree. I will anger those with the popular accepted opinion. How can I present my opinion in a kind way when I don't agree? Should I just keep quiet or rock the boat?"
Keeping quiet can be construed as acquiescing. Truth isn't always popular and it can isolate you. It can be costly in ways you cannot imagine. However, in the long run, it will win.
Sometimes I don't say aloud what I am really thinking, and I am not proud of my silence. I am in the crowd of that story about the emperor. Truth may be painful at first, but it is the kindest thing you can do for someone. I also see it as a responsibility. If you are heading into a ditch and I keep quiet then I failed you. But if I speak up and you continue in the same direction, then the onus is no longer on me.
If you truely seek Truth read the Bible. Not sure where to start? Start at the beginning or with the disciple Jesus loved. His name was John.
