REST FOR YOUR SOULS

In our busy world we don’t always get the rest we need. We are constantly bombarded with information and noise that may sap our energy. The TV is on, the phone is pinging with SnapChat, FaceBook, or emails. I once had 3 emails to review daily. Only one was mine. The other two were work-related. I could be having a pleasant evening, then my phone would ding. I was like a jack-in-the-box, jumping up to find a response to the latest work emergency, which was not really an emergency. I finally told my colleagues I would only answer them during regular business hours. A real emergency means calling 911 for a fire or someone who is critically ill. Once I reestablished my boundaries I regained some peace for a while. Now I have learned to put my technology down on the weekend, especially on Saturday. Even the animals know this. Learn from the beavers and the bees. We all need a day of rest.
Here is what I learned: I came across this information about the rest that is in our DNA. It is called
circaseptan rhythm. Circa refers to time and septan means 7.
A medical professional noticed and named this. He became one of the founders of modern chronobiology.
