Consider the Source

To live in today’s world, we must know who we are, where we come from and where we are going. We must be strong! Here is why:
I watched a shocking video about AI. A man named Yuval Noah Harari was making a speech at the Peace meeting in Davos, Switzerland, January 2026. I watch a lot of videos to find new material for my English lessons. I focus on technology sometimes because I have a tech company as a client.
When I watch someone new, I like to know more about who they are and what is their world view. I have been told as a teacher I am expected to be neutral and just present information. However, that is unrealistic. The most I can do is keep my opinion to myself and avoid editorializing when I present new information. I am aware that everyone has a point of view based on their life experiences and value system.
As Mr. Harari spoke, he was telling about the pros and cons of AI. He made a couple of statements I did not agree with. He claimed these “facts.”
1. Words all came from man’s mind.
2. AI coined a new word for humans: “watchers”.
3. He said in another speech that AI would take over all words. (he has a lot of YouTube videos posted)
Let me start with 1 & 3: God said, “Let there be light.” Genesis 1:3 & John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” All words DO NOT come from minds of men.
What about item 2: Daniel 4 describes watchers as holy (set apart) angelic beings, not humans.
He did make one claim with which I could agree. He said AI can lie. So can he.
Once I heard his information and found it contrary to what I know to be true, then I believed other false statements were also being presented. That’s when I researched him. I won’t go into what I discovered, but you can find about him on Wiki.
As I said to start, to live in today’s world, we must know who we are, where we come from and where we are going. Otherwise, we may find the “experts” palatable and plausible. Afterall, they spent so much time learning and researching to get to their conclusions and we may feel not smart enough to argue a point.*(see 1Peter 3:15) I always go back to my Dad’s definition of an expert with his little play on words. Ex is from the Latin has been and spurt is a drip under pressure. That guy definitely fit my dad’s idea of an expert.
On to my next caveat which I will illustrate with a personal story.
A friend asked me what was wrong. “I am fine.” “Well, your mascara is running down your face.” Note to self, buy the waterproof kind for when I am not fine. I shared what another colleague said that had upset me because I knew my friend was a caring person. I was hurt by unkind words from a thoughtless meanspirited person. He knew her well. His response was so helpful. He said I should consider the source. What a great piece of advice that can apply to many situations, like when a self-proclaimed atheist talks about our future with AI.
Sometimes someone says or does something hurtful. Sometimes hurts can be a few words we can so let go of. But other times the hurt is ongoing or has longer term repercussions. That’s when I remind myself to consider the source. God is not the author of confusion. All that is Good comes from above. If I am confused. If the news is bad, what is the source?
Is AI going to take over? Not on my watch! I answer to a Higher Authority.
Read the whole Book, the Bible. It mentions a statue that seems to come to life and speak against the Most High. Dan. 7:25. It says even the elect may be deceived. Mark 13:12.
We are also told that we will have tribulation, but that Jesus overcame the world. John 16:33. He already did it. The evildoers are fighting some skirmishes, but the battle was won at the cross. Sometimes we think the battles are out there somewhere, but bad comes to where we are. There were struggles in the early church and it is no different now. Not everyone who walks in the building is our brother. We must be vigilant and discerning. We can use what the basement guy and his followers design for evil for the good of the Body instead. That’s why I still share my story when someone needs to hear. We were not overcome. We are the overcomers.
We think we are supposed to be transparent, but privacy is important. It protects us and those we love. “Don’t throw your pearls before swine.”
We have questions, heavy stuff that needs an answer. How is our peace regained when we are called on to forgive the unforgivable? Are we to just forgive everyone without any accountability? What does that look like? I am still not sure. But we can let go of past hurt by deciding those things will not rule over us. We can be aware that vengeance belongs to the Creator. “Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.”
There is a Bible story about a king who shared too much information. King Hezekiah showed some visitors from Babylon everything he owned. The prophet told him his kingdom would be lost. 2 Kings 20:12
If I did not know my identity was in Jesus, I am not sure where I would be now, physically or spiritually. Knowing Him and reading His Word keeps me on the right path. Having believers, who are praying friends, helps keep me strong.
I won’t apologize that I cannot be neutral when I share current event stories. I don’t listen to the ex-spurts, I listen to God. Psalm 119:11 His Word have I hid in my heart... I did not make them up like that guy implied, they were given to me by My Source.
My Source is God Almighty and His Son Jesus who is my Savior and Lord. Because of this I am prolife, and pro-survivors of child and domestic abuse. For anyone struggling, I recommend Christian counseling. But I also have used the medical profession to get guidance, just as I would for any illness. My brothers and sisters in Christ can pray for healing and support whatever I feel compelled to share. But sometimes we need an anonymous ear to listen without making decisions or trying to fix a problem for us. Survivors regain their strength and identity when they can fight back. This usually means using the legal and medical system for support.
The next generation is being taught AI is the answer. It will write your papers with better words. It will do jobs more efficiently than you. It will keep you safe with surveillance. It will answer all of life’s questions. The church needs to come against this humanistic teaching. We need to be like Peter when he says we always should be prepared to give an answer for our hope in Christ. *1 Peter 3:15. I could not tell my story if I did not have that hope. I would not be able to discern the truth about AI if I could not line it up against the Word of God.
Finally, we need to pray for those who tell and believe the lies. Pray truth comes to them all.
There is a line being drawn in the sand. Are you going to accept it or cross it? Who is on the Lord's side?

Consider the Source. In Him I live and move and have being. How about you?
