English with treats!

1 min read

I just put a post on FaceBook and it started with a rhetorical question: Who doesn't love a cookie? Today a client came for English conversation. He left with a bag of homemade cookies made by retired Chef David. Those cookies are going to his office. There are so many ways to market a business and good food is a great one!

Pictured above is Hungarian holiday kifli cookies. This is a recipe David got from his Hungarian mother. He still makes them every year at Christmas in her memory. The first year we arrived, we shared them with our relocation specialist. She thought we got them from someone local. They passed the taste test as authentically Hungarian! :)

This year we plan to add a new treat from a recipe one of our clients gave us. Flodni is the name and here is how it looks. Jewish people make this as a holiday dessert. It is served in fine restaurants in Budapest. Soon it will be served right where we are in Alsózsolca.

If you know someone who would like to improve their English, please have them contact us. We can talk by zoom or in person. If they come here, treats may be waiting. ;D
